The Geometry of Patterns - Just 17

A study of how the myriad of repeating patterns on wallpaper etc. are mathematically limited to just 17 basic types.

A curious little proggie which despite appearances isn't really about wallpaper.(though much time is spent with wallpaper) It is more about the mathematical & geometric properties of various types of repeating patterns.These patterns & designs are shown in not only wallpaper but the beautiful ancient tile mosaics made by the moors in Alhambra Palace. The programme shows us how rotation, mirroring, and translation are used to transform motifs into the 17 basic patterns. I have more of these Geometry type proggies I might up later if there is interest.
